Koudoumas

Published on: 2012-04-18 23:01:23
Small, pebble beach, with cool crystal clear deep seawater but without facilities.

Koudoumas, although accessible through rough road, is a very quiet pebble beach, with clear and deep water that remain cool at the nearby caves even under the hottest sun.

Less popular for tourists and mainly visited by locals, Koudoumas beach is very quiet. The road from Heraklion passes through the village Sternai, from where the road begins to be rough and becomes even more challenging when descending the mountain to the sea level. In Koudoumas there is a monastery on the side of the beach and a couple of caves where the heat of the sun never enters. No facilities exist on the beach, so make sure you bring all you need with you. Explore the surrounding area.
